Over the last few weeks I’ve been sharing some projects from my son’s “big boy” room!
His room is nearly complete, and I’m finally ready to start showing it off.
At the end of the month we’ll put all of these projects together for the big reveal!
Previous posts in this series:
My toddler loves to look at photos (especially ones of himself – tell me that’s not just my child??) and has several photo books he enjoys flipping through so I thought he would enjoy having some of our favorite family photos on his wall.
I started eclectically collecting black picture frames a couple of months ago. I would just grab one or two here or there as I found them for a good price. No two frames in the collage are the same.
I also wanted to add a little “art” to mix things up and make it more fun. This button specimen art was really simple to make. And the scrapbook paper the buttons are mounted on appears almost fabric-like because all of the cardboard I used behind it to make up for the lack of glass has “pooched” (Yes! That is a technical term!) the paper forward.
I used scrapbook paper and ribbon to make the wall hanging on the right side of the collage. All of the photos are attached with photo corners so they can be changed out as my son grows.
I absolutely adore this little printable I made with all of my son’s birth statistics on it. This was completely not my original idea! I saw it on Pinterest and knew I was going to have to include it in the collage. I love it in this little 2.5×3.5 frame.
With a theme of fire trucks in the room, I had to include one of the old metal fire trucks (I don’t think its a Matchbox) that we found at the flea market last year on the shelf in the collage.
Some of the frames didn’t have a way to hang them on the wall. No worries, I just used those handy 3M Damage-Free photo hangers. Worked like a dream!
I have a FANTASTIC tip for you when you’re nailing your photos to the wall that I’m going to share next week! It will rock your world!
One more shot of the entire collage. The letters spelling my son’s name still need to be re-covered. This is how they looked in the nursery!
And the other bit of wall art… this fun Dr. Seuss printable I made and framed! It hangs over my son’s reading corner. AND I made a few different versions of the printable that you can download and use should you choose to do so. 🙂
Go here to download the SVG file for the Dr. Seuss hat.
Only one more project to share next week then we’ll put the entire room together in 1 blog post!
I hope you’re as excited as I am!! 😉

How did you make those printables? I'm trying to recreate it in a different color scheme so it will match my baby's room, but I'm having no luck. What am i doing wrong?! What program did you use?
