New Year’s Eve is right around the corner and I’m already planning how to celebrate! There’s no time like the present to knock out a few simple crafts to make our party fun and and a little fancy. A new year means a fresh start and who wouldn’t want to make their fresh start with something a little fancy, right?
These simple Feather Place Settings are the perfect addition to our New Year’s table and so easy to make you won’t even believe it! And if your party goes along with the Roaring 20’s or any type of flapper theme then these are a perfect accessory.
Supplies:
White cardstock

Gold leaf pen
Using an X-acto knife or scissors, cut 4-5″ long feather shapes out of white cardstock. I did not use a template for this since I wanted each feather to be unique. Use precision scissors to cut the individual feathers on the cardstock shape. Finally, paint the feathers in your party colors, in my case Pearl White, Pearl Black, and Royal Ruby. As indicated in the names, the colors have a pearlescent sheen to them give the paper a nice shine. One coat of paint front and back will work perfectly.
Use a gold leaf pen to write the names of your party guests on each feather once the paint is dry. Add decorative art deco accents to the feathers with the Dazzling Metallics Gold Writer.
Decorate your place settings with the feathers or, if you’re not formally sitting but rather sipping and snacking, place the feathers with a fabric napkin in wine glasses for your guests.
You can easily whip up a bunch of these feathers in no time flat! The drying time on the paper is even very quick. These are great to make ahead and add names later when you know exactly who is coming over!
