Kick off summer by making this simple but vibrant watermelon wreath!
In the past I was a member of the FloraCraft® Make It: Fun® Team.
I’ve created a lot of fun things with their foam in the past (Faux Concrete Succulent Planters, Haunted House Cloche, DIY Faux Bois Platter).
I’m still over the moon for their line of succulents.
I created this watermelon wreath as one of their monthly craft team challenges.
And if you’ve been around these parts for any amount of time you know I kind of have a thing for wreaths.
I’m pretty much addicted to making them!
They are such a fun and impactful way to add to your home decor.
And I know I always say this, but this Watermelon Wreath is my new favorite!
Isn’t it so fun for summer?
Watermelon Wreath Video
I’ve put together a quick video to show the step-by-step process to make the watermelon wreath.
But you can find the stand alone photos on through the post.
Watermelon Wreath Supplies
FloraCraft® Make It: Fun® Foam 16″ Wreath Form
Pink grosgrain ribbon – 8 yds
Lime green grosgrain ribbon – 8 yds
Green grosgrain ribbon – 4 yds
Wired plaid ribbon
Assorted black buttons
Pressed cardboard “welcome” sign
Americana Multi-Surface Satin paint in Pink Tropics
Hot glue gun
Watermelon Wreath Directions
Wrap half of the wreath in the pink grosgrain ribbon.
Slightly overlap ribbon as it is wrapped.
Wrap the other half of the wreath form with the lime green ribbon, again, with a slight overlap.
Cut the green ribbon into 5″ strips.
Seal the ends by passing lightly through a flame.
Layer green ribbon over the lime green ribbon, leaving ~3/4″ of lime color showing on front of wreath, matching the overlap of the lime green.
Hot glue in place.
Add “seeds” to the watermelon by hot gluing assorted black buttons on top, front, and inside of pink ribbon on wreath form.
I used two different sizes of buttons.
Paint the “welcome” sign with 2 coats of the Multi-Surface paint.
Once dry, hot glue to front of wreath.
Top off the wreath with a bow from the plaid ribbon.
Trim ends of ribbon and get ready to hang that beauty up!
Isn’t it so bright and fun??
If this watermelon wreath doesn’t scream summer then I don’t know what does!
I can’t wait for our next challenge!
Stay tuned next month to see which product the team will be featuring and all the creative ideas that go along with it.
