Give a worn out piece of furniture a whole new look with paint! It may seem like an odd time for a furniture makeover post, but this project was so quick that I was able to easily squeeze it into the holiday madness. Because when you’ve had enough of an old piece of furniture looking shabby and really want to it shine with the rest of your home, especially when you’re having friends and family over for the holidays, you’ll steal a few hours for a quick makeover!

Give a worn out piece of furniture a whole new look with paint! This side table belonged to my husband’s great grandmother. So it’s definitely one of those pieces we want to keep in the family and would never giveaway. Unfortunately it had a rough life prior to coming to us.

There are some amazing details all over the table that, unfortunately, made it an unlikely candidate for sanding down and re-staining. It would take ages to sand all of these decorative embellishments and get into all of those thin grooves.

Since staining wasn’t an option, I used Americana Decor’s Satin Enamels furniture paint in Dark Denim.

Satin Enamels, like the name implies, give a satin sheen to the finish of the paint. It also doesn’t require priming or sanding your surface prior to use. The Dark Denim is a nice darker blue that blends well with the rest of my living room which is gray, navy, and yellow.

Within a few hours I had 2 coats of paint on this little side table, allowed it a few more hours to be good and dry, and it was ready to be used! The only prep work I did was give the entire table a good wipe down with a slightly damp rag. There’s relatively no odor with this paint so I was able to lay out a drop cloth right in my living room and paint in the warmth rather than out in the wintry temps.

Give a worn out piece of furniture a whole new look with paint! The detailed embellishments of the table all still pop with the paint. And now the table blends beautifully with the rest of the room! Not a bad project to squeeze into the holiday madness, right? Definitely worth setting aside a few hours to get it done!

What kind of brush do you use with Satin Paint? Does it clean up with soap & water. Thanks

Just a regular paintbrush will work nicely. You don't need anything special. And it will clean up well with soap and water.

Wow. Bountiful, I love the color. You've inspired me to restore an old antique table I've had collecting dust in my garage. Thanks!

I love that blue! Where did you find the paint? I have 3 end tables waiting for a facelift but can never decide on a color!

I love that color so much! I think I need to try some DecoArt paint. That's the worst about winter; I can't get much done in the way of painting and the fact that it was ready for use in such a short amount of time is a huge selling point!
