Pokémon Pikachu Valentine Box

This DIY Pokémon Pikachu Valentine box is perfect for your Pokémon-loving kid and their school Valentine’s Day party!

Valentine’s Day is coming up and that means school parties and celebrations!

My youngest needed a Valentine box for his Kindergarten Valentine’s Day class party.

He is completely obsessed with all things Pokémon and Pikachu is his favorite character so it was a no brainer what type of box he was going to want.

My oldest is still using his Minion Valentine Box for school parties and as a toy holder the rest of the year.

This Pokémon Pikachu Valentine Box was pretty easy to make using a shipping tube, paint, and cardstock.

And it couldn’t have turned out any cuter!

It will also make a fun piggy bank the rest of the year, don’t you think?

Pokemon Pikachu Valentine Box Supplies:

Wide shipping tube (found at Michaels)

Acrylic paint in black, yellow, red, and white

2 bamboo skewers

Cardstock in yellow, black, and tan

Double-sided tape (affiliate link)

Red felt (optional)

Pokemon Pikachu Valentine Box Lid Directions:

Carefully cut a slot in one of the lids of the shipping tube.

A box cutter or X-acto knife will work nicely, but scissors will also work.

Make it big enough for little paper valentines to slip through.

Pokemon Pikachu Valentine Box Painting Directions:

Remove both plastic ends of the shipping tube and paint the entire tube yellow.

Two quick coats will cover it nicely.

Also paint the lid that you cut the slot in.

Use a pencil to draw Pikachu’s face near the top of the shipping box.

You can paint a heart onto the tube or use a piece of red felt cut into a heart and glue it to the tube.

I like the 3D element the felt brings to the box.

Go back and paint Pikachu’s face. You will need to do at least 2 coats of paint.

For the pink tongue, I simply mixed some of the red and white paints.

Add outlines of hands and feet with black paint or a black Sharpie.

Pokemon Pikachu Valentine Box Ear Directions:

Cut four ears out of the yellow cardstock.

Run double-sided adhesive around the edge of one ear, place a bamboo skewer on the ear, then top with a 2nd ear.

Repeat with the remaining two pieces of yellow cardstock.

Cut a square of the black cardstock and adhere it to the top of each ear, front and back, and trim to the ear shape.

Cut off the excess bamboo skewer sticking out of the bottom of the ear.

Use double-sided adhesive to adhere the base of the ears to the back of the shipping tube.

Pokemon Pikachu Valentine Box Cardstock Directions:

Cut the stripes for Pikachu’s back out of the tan paper and adhere to the back of the shipping tube.

Cut a tail out of the remaining yellow cardstock and use the tan paper to add the extra detail to the base of the tail.

Adhere the tail to the back of the shipping tube.

Replace both the top and bottom lids to the shipping tube.

 

How cute is this little guy??

I can’t imagine a Pokemon fan not absolutely loving this little box.

I almost want to keep this Pokemon Pikachu Valentine box for myself.

After Valentine’s Day my little Pokemon-obsessed guy can use this Pikachu as a piggy bank!
