We’ve had such a mild winter here in Tennessee! The daffodils started blooming weeks ago, something they don’t normally do for until this month! Trees and shrubs are budding, and I even have lilies and iris starting to peek out of the ground. It has me in the mood for spring!

I’m getting a jump start on the spring decorating by creating a pretty floral bouquet for my mailbox. It will tide me over until we are in full on springtime and everything is in bloom!

You will need an assortment of faux flowers, varying in height and color, floral wire, and ribbon.

Steer clear of any florals that contain foam, glitter, or anything that might easily come apart being exposed to the elements. Most florals will hold up quite well outdoors.

Gather the floral stems into a pretty bouquet. Approximately 3 inches from the bottom-most flower, wrap a floral wire around the stems and twist the ends together. Wrap the ends of the wire tightly around the stems to keep them together.

An inch or two higher than the wrapped floral wire, take a second wire and wrap it around the stems and twist the ends tightly together, but do not continue wrapping it around the stems. This wire will be use to attach the bouquet to the mailbox.

This burlap mesh comes in the perfect shade of green for a floral bouquet! And the mesh will work well outdoors as it’s waterproof. Take a length of the mesh and tie it into a bow.

Fold a floral wire in half and slide it through the back of the knot in the bow. Use the wire to attach the bow to the bouquet by wrapping it around the stems. Trim the ends of the bow as needed.

Use wire cutters to trim the stems of the florals. I like to leave several inches of stem, but you can cut them as short as you like.

Wrap the second wire you added to the stems tightly around the mailbox pole.

I love how the bouquet instantly brightens up the mailbox! It’s such a great way to greet guests.

Now I’ll just sit patiently and wait for spring to truly arrive!
