Abbey Road Mini Album

As promised, I am going to share a couple of projects I made using the Abbey Road collection by Bo Bunny. When I saw this collection I just knew I wanted it, but I had no idea at the time what I would do with it. Lately I have been on a mini album kick so I thought Abbey Road would be perfect for that!

Mini albums are great for a quick project involving a handful of pictures. If you have too many pictures for 1 layout and don’t want to spread the photos out into 5 or more layouts (not enough to fill a large album), then a mini album is what you need! You can buy mini album kits/books or make your own. I decided to make my own.

To make your own mini album all you need is some thin cardboard to use as the front and back cover. (If you ever order scrapbook paper online, they usually send it with a 12×12 piece of cardboard to keep the paper from getting wrinkled – keep it! You never know when you might need it! Alternatively, you can go to your LSS and ask them if they have any extra. They will probably give it to you for free.) Cut the cardboad about a half inch larger than the size you will be cutting your paper.

I made a 6×6 inch mini album, so I cut my cardboard covers to measure 6.5×6.5 inches. Here’s a look…

I love to add texture and layers to my mini albums. Here I’ve layered several flowers, added pearls, and given some dimension to my paper by distressing the edges and rolling it up.

I used the Metro alphabet set in my QuicKutz Squeeze to make the title. I lightly inked the letters so they matched the aged feel of the Abbey Road paper (the letters started out baby blue). I also outlined the letters with a brown Zip marker to make them stand out.

I also wanted to share a couple of pages out of the album. I kept this one very simple. To break up the stripes on this paper, I added matching ribbon, knotting it at the edge of the paper.

I used a foam alphabet set I found at Hobby Lobby. (You can find them if you look in the children’s craft area. They are often on sale for half off.)

I layered various textures of flowers for dimension. Some are paper and some fabric. I added rub-ons to both types of flowers. Rub-ons actually stay very well of fabric flowers.

I used a large rub-on flower on the top corner of the photo. I also added a pearl to the center of the flower to give it some dimension.

You probably noticed not all of the products I used in the mini album were from Bo Bunny’s Abbey Road collection. I like to go through all of my scrapbook stash and pull out any products I can find that are similar in color or theme to my project. In this mini album I was able to scrape together ribbon, buttons, flowers, bling, accent paper, ink, alphabet sets, and other embellishments. Take a look around your scrap space and see what you can find. You might be surprised!

I know I promised a layout also, but its getting late, and I really need to get to bed. I’ll share the layout a little later on in the week.
