Phase 1 of operation fire truck birthday party is complete!
I’ve been working in all of my spare time on drawing a fun antique fire truck that I can use on the little guy’s birthday t-shirt and other birthday related items.
And its finally done!
I printed it out in its final form on some heat transfer paper.
(The same paper I used in this project.)
Ummmmm… Anyone see anything wrong with this picture??
Since this is an iron on, the wording should all be backwards!
So I double checked that I had made a mirror of the image in my drawing program and tried again (thus the same image twice on the same sheet of paper again).
Yeah… still printing the wrong way.
So I flipped the image back the it would look normally and tried to print again…
SUCCESS!!
Apparently my computer and printer are smarter than me.
Since I had the printer set to heat transfer paper, it automatically reversed the image for me!
So I went about doing a quick and dirty cut out of the firetruck and letters with my trusty X-acto knife. You can see the edges are pretty rough and some of the white is showing.
No worries! I’m putting it on a white shirt so it will never be seen!
Finished product!!
Did you notice the #2 on the door? That’s for little man turning two and he can still wear it until he gets too big for it because its not necessarily birthday specific.
Only problem with this shirt now? Its a long sleeve shirt. 🙁
Its all I could find, and I was in a hurry to get this project done so I could share it with you!
But my mom has assured me she can make this into a short sleeve shirt without problem (I’m sewing challenged!). So yay!!

So the reason this post is so late coming today is that the hubs and I have been out of town for the weekend celebrating our anniversary. 7 years, baby!!
And what should we spy during our travels??
These two FANTABULOUS antique fire trucks sitting in the parking lot of a small town fire station! We HAD to stop and take photos. I just know we can use these in the little guy’s bedroom makeover. *squeal!*

And I’m excited to say that, do to popular demand (okay, at least two of you!) I now have this antique fire truck design available in my Etsy shoppe. Its available in .jpg format so that you can easily crop and resize.
