Spooky Chic Halloween Wreath

IMG 1409
I love purple and black together for Halloween.
I think they look subtly spooky together!
So of course I paired them together for my
Spooky Chic Halloween Wreath!
I wrapped a wreath form with black material. Then added a black feather boa. I spaced the boa out that I had 5 sections to my wreath.

Section 1
I covered the 1st section in black satin rolled roses.
Confession: I intended to cover the entire wreath with these roses, but since this one section alone took 20 flowers, I decided I needed a new plan!

Section 2
I took purple satin ribbon and wrapped it around this section, gluing it in such a way to give it a rippling effect.

Section 3
I found some fabulous velvet ribbon that I wrapped around this section. I liked having the black fabric covering the wreath form showing through here.

Section 4
Since I seem to be alternating with purple and black, I wasn’t sure what to do with this section at first. I knew I wanted my {Dollar Store} glitter skull to go here so having something black in this section was out. Purple might have been too dark also. So I finally settled on some silver tulle. I just wrapped it loosely around the wreath form allowing it to gather in places.

Before I glued the skull to the wreath, I gave him a light coating of Mod Podge. Since he was going to be outside, I wanted to be sure all of his glitter wouldn’t wear away. He lost some of his sparkle after this, but I still love the way he turned out.
I decided his eyes needed to stand out more to make him look more spooky. I found some purple glitter brads in my scrapbook stashed and pushed them into place. They ended up being too lavendar (whoever heard of a scary skull with lavendar eyes?) so I filled the brad with dark purple Stickles (aka glitter paint).

Section 5
I was most excited about this section. I found this fabric ages ago and KNEW it would be perfect on a Halloween wreath. It is a shiny purple and silver bracade pattern on black material.
GOR.GE.OUS.
It also helped me incorporate the silver tulle in the previous section.
I used the same method as the tulle and loosely wrapped it around the wreath and let the fabric fall and fold as it wanted to. LOVE IT!

And, once again, the complete wreath.
Spooky chic, right?

The different fabric you chose is perfect. It's glam, chic and a little spooky at the same time. I love this wreath!

Spooky and chic - my kind of decor! I did a boa wreath last year (I cannot find it now) but I love the feathers and the purple.
