The Chic Glam Wreath

Chic+Glam+Wreath+1
This isn’t just any wreath.
And it isn’t just a Chic Glam Wreath.
Its so much more!
Its a wreath with a story behind it! 🙂
Would you care to hear about it?
I hope so!
This wreath came to be because of an email I received from one of my wonderful readers, Ellen.
Ellen wrote to me telling me about a friend of hers who wants to be a mother.
Really wants to be a mother.
You see her friend wants to adopt an orphan from Haiti.
In order pay for the high costs involved in adoption, there is going to be a fundraiser to help Ellen’s friend gain some of the monetary means she needs to become a mom. I’m donating this wreath to the fundraiser.
Ellen reached out to me, and now I’m reaching out to you!
She did not ask me to reach out to my readers, but it seems to be something I can do to help.
Do you specialize in a craft? Is there something you can whip up to donate?
I encourage you to visit Ellen and read about what her friend is trying to do.
If you think you have time to help (the fundraiser is December 2),
please contact Ellen via her blog and let her know.
I could not pass up this opportunity to help a woman who does not know what its like to be a mother become one when I know how truly blessed I am to be one myself!

Now how about a little more about the wreath? 🙂
Chic+Glam+Wreath+2
(Forgive my cruddy pictures. I’m reduced to taking photos after dark unless its the weekend!)
I took a standard wreath form and wrapped it with black yarn. I made some pom pom flowers (tutorial here, just skip step 2!) from white felt and glued them to the wreath.
Then I decided to mix things up a bit!
I stared at this wreath for ages trying to decide what else I wanted to do to it. Finally I started scrounging around my desk and happened upon my “bling basket.” Yep, that’s what I call it!
I took your standard, run-of-the-mill scrapbook bling that you can find at any Hobby Lobby and stuck it straight onto the yarn. Scrapbook bling has a built in adhesive so you don’t have to do anything to use it and because the yarn is so fuzzy there was no problem with it sticking.
I also ran across some little white blinged out flowers I had in my stash and decided to use them, too. I simply glued them on with some Beacon’s 3-in-1 (which I also used for my pom pom flowers).
The black bling on the black yarn has a subtle glamorous effect!
I think I will be duplicating one of these for myself…  🙂

Since we’re talking yarn wreaths… I wanted to show off this fabulous concoction that my friend Tracey made! She modeled it after the yarn wreath I made last year. I think I like hers even better! Those colors are great! Tracey is a very talented crafter, and if I took a picture of all the things she has made for me over the years you would be seriously impressed.
Leave her a little love because I’m going to make her read the comments. 🙂
