You guys know I love paper crafts, right? Paper is definitely my favorite media to work with!
There are so many things you can do with paper, not to mention all of the embellishments that go with it!
So when I was contacted by the scrapbook company American Crafts to work with some of their new Halloween supplies, it was pretty much a no brainer to participate!
After Christmas, Halloween is my favorite holiday! Its the perfect excuse for me to glitter and glam things up in the testosterone-filled home that I live in.
I posted this photo on Instagram when all of the Halloween goodies arrived.
There was an assortment of kits and scrapbook supplies. So much to choose from!
So here’s the low down on what you see above:
WHAT: 3 kits – paper wreath, banner, and mini witch hats. Also available are a 6×6 paper pad, and dozens of embellishments ranging from washi tape to epoxy stickers.
WHERE: These products are exclusively available at your local Target stores! Prices range from $5 – $10.
I finally settled on making the paper wreath kit. I’ve always wanted to make one of these types of wreaths,
and what better time than when all of the pieces are already in one place and cut to size?
This kit, and the other Halloween American Craft kits as well, comes complete with all of the pieces you need to put them together. If items need to be adhered together, the adhesive is already in place. Also included is a sheet of fairly straightforward directions.
I have a couple of tips and tricks when it comes to making this paper wreath.
1. DO NOT skip past the first couple of steps that tell you to fold the sides of the paper before adhering it into a roll. DO NOT think that its just a “suggestion” that you don’t really need to do. TRUST ME.
2. There are 12 sheets of paper included to make the wreath. The cardboard ring that comes with the kit was too large for me to fit all of the rolled paper around.
Easy fix: cut the cardboard and roll it tighter to make it fit the hole you have made with the rolled paper. Hold it in place with the extra paperclips that come with the kit.
If you make this wreath, you will realize exactly what I’m talking about! 😉
And, finally, although there was adhesive everywhere there needed to be on the pieces in this kit, there were places where I felt the need to add more. I simply used American Crafts Super Sticky Tape for extra reinforcement.
Ta-da! Isn’t it fun? I love those papers!
But, since I had all of these extra embellishments, I decided the wreath still needed a little something more.
Do you see those little gold glitter stars above and below the Happy Halloween sentiment?
I love them! And I decided the wreath needed more of them…
Lucky for me, one of the embellishments with this line is a set of gold glitter, black glitter, and book page stars! I scattered them about the edges of my wreath. Now I love it even better!
The glitter really does it for me. I can’t get enough of it for Halloween!
And it really glams up the wreath.
I wanted to create one more quick craft, and I’d been seriously eyeballing these epoxy stickers that came in my box of goodies. These things are LARGE. At least an inch and a half tall. I thought they would look great on a bracelet!
I made one out of an empty cardboard ring from a roll of tape, a strip of fabric, and the epoxy stickers.
Glue one end of the fabric to the back of the cardboard ring and wrap it all of the way around the ring.
Glue the end down to the back of the ring.
The epoxy sticker stuck perfectly to the fabric, but if you feel like it needs more adhesive then be sure to add some.
Isn’t it fun and chic for Halloween? I think I’m in love! Not bad for a 5 minute craft.
Now I need to find more tape rings and make the tape scarce. I’m going to need more bracelets!
