You, GUYS! My kitchen just got the smallest of makeovers, but it is making a huge impact!
Moen sent me their Walden kitchen faucet to review and, let me tell you, I am in love.
Our previous kitchen faucet was boring and basic and came with the house.
This new Walden faucet looks fab and has a couple of bells and whistles that have me (almost) looking forward
to dish washing time!
So, what’s so fab about the Walden faucet? Let me spout a few specifics…
1. It features a special Microban® antimicrobial protection technology – with 2 little boys in the house, I am a huge anti-bacteria fan.
2. It also features a Spot Resistant™ feature that helps the faucet keep its shine against fingerprints and water spots.
3. It has a very useful pulldown/self-retracting wand which features Moen’s Reflex® system. It eliminates the need for a separate hose!
Before we could install the new faucet we needed to remove the old one.
First things first, TURN OFF THE WATER.
While the hubs did that, I removed everything from the cabinets under the sink… with the aid of my two little helpers.
They really wanted to be in on this faucet upgrade!
After the old faucet was removed, we checked out all of the new parts for the Walden faucet.
It may look daunting, but the directions are very specific and my husband was able to install everything himself.
Me? I was the photographer, of course!
And see that gray cylinder marked “important tool” in the above photo?
Keep an eye out for it in your box. It is actually an awesome wrench for tightening the hoses since a regular wrench won’t fit well in the space under your sink. We figured that out a little late after trying to fit a couple of different wrenches in there. Once we finally did discover it, everything was easy peasy.
See how busy I was taking photos? I helped hold things, too. I’m very helpful like that…
The above photos show various stages of the install. The hubs really rocked it.
I think it was all ready to go in a couple of hours.
The Walden faucet has 2 stream settings: spray and aerated stream. They can be swapped out with the flick of a small button just on the back side of the nozzle.
Instead of grabbing a separate hose to rinse the sink I can just pull out the nozzle of the faucet to do it.
When I’m done rinsing? I just let go and the hose retracts itself back into place.
And I can easily fill pots and pitchers while they rest on the countertop instead of trying to balance them in midair under the running faucet!
And what about that extra hole in the sink top since we don’t need an extra nozzle?
Its replaced with a soap pump! That is one less extra thing that I have to have on the sink. I love that feature!
Its very easy to fill, too. Simply pull the pump up to expose the hole to fill with soap.
So, can you tell I love our new faucet from Moen?
We’ve been using it for a week now and it just makes me smile every time I walk past it.
You can find the Walden faucet exclusively at The Home Depot.
