This Hermione tote bag is just what you need for carrying around all of those library books!
I can always used another tote bag.
So many things seem to need to be toted.
Especially with kids. Am I right?
I wanted a fun quote to go on a tote bag my kids could take to the library and immediately thought of Hermione.
While you might think this quote comes directly from Hermione, it actually does not.
The quote I used is actually from Ron about Hermione to Harry in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
“That’s what Hermione does,” said Ron, shrugging. “When in doubt, go to the library.”
Perfect, right? I thought so to.
Let me show you how I made the tote bag!
I designed the quote in the Silhouette Studio software.
I found a silhouette that looked a lot like Hermione and all that big hair she had when she was younger and used in the quote as well.
Just so there was little doubt about the origins of the quote.
Fun for you, I am sharing the file in case you want to use the Hermione quote, too!
You can download the file here.
It is a Studio file so it can only be used in Silhouette software.
The image you download looks just like the image above, BUT REMEMBER, if you want to use this file as an iron on transfer as I did, you will want to flip the image HORIZONTALLY prior to cutting it out.
If you want to use it to cut regular vinyl or cardstock just cut as is.
I used my favorite smooth heat transfer vinyl from Expressions Vinyl (affiliate link) in gray to cut out the quote on.
For ironing on the transfer, I have found the best way to be to use a mesh pressing pad similar to this one on top of the transfer.
Apply the iron to one section of the transfer at a time, pressing for 15-20 seconds, then moving on and repeating in another section of the transfer.
Allow to cool then lift the edge of the plastic cover the transfer to see if you image has stuck to the fabric.
If not, repeat pressing areas that need more heat.
It works like a charm every time!
Now I’m all decked out to head to the library with my kiddos!
I wonder how many of the librarians will get the quote?
I’m guessing most of them!
Will you make a Hermione tote bag?
I am so excited to be sharing this craft ideas as a part of the Happy Harry Potter series again this year, hosted by the fab Marissa from Raegun Ramblings.
This is the ULTIMATE series for HP fans.
2 weeks of handmade Harry Potter-themed crafts!
