DIY baseball pennants can be made for any sport and are a fun and inexpensive way to support the team!
My oldest is doing a school play that has a baseball scene in it, and I was asked to make some pennants for the “fans” in the stands to wave around.
It turned out to be such a cute and simple craft that I felt the need to share it with you guys!
Wouldn’t these be fun to customize for your own little ones to use or for you to use to cheer them on at their sport events?
Maybe even use as an end-of-the-season trophy or gift for the team members?
These DIY baseball pennants could so easily be done up for any sport!

DIY Baseball Pennants: Cutting Pennants
Each sheet of felt will make 2-3 pennants depending on the size you want.
I made mine 8″ tall and as wide as the sheet of felt.
Cut out triangles.
To turn the triangles into pennants that you can attach to the dowel rods, create templates out of cardboard to make rectangular flags at the base of the triangle.
Make sure they will be long enough to wrap around the dowel rods.
Cut off excess felt.
DIY Baseball Pennats: Decorating Pennants
You can design the various pennants using iron on letters and embellishments.
These supplies make creating and customizing these pennants a breeze!
But don’t forget you can also use your scrap felt as embellishments, too.
I hand cut the heart and baseballs from excess felt that had been trimmed off of the felt sheets.
I used a Sharpie to draw the threads on the baseball and trace the edge so that the white ball could be seen on the white felt.
I attached them to the felt with hot glue.
The felt stars are stickers and stuck perfectly to the felt pennants without the need for any extra adhesive.
Aren’t they cute?
So easy!
DIY Baseball Pennants: Attaching to Dowels
Cut the dowel rods in half.
I skipped using a hand saw and used tree limb clippers instead.
It was super quick and easy to do.
I then lightly sanded the ends so the kids wouldn’t get any splinters or scratch themselves.
Attach the pennants to the dowel rods by applying hot glue to the rectangular flags and wrapping them around the dowel rods.
The DIY Baseball Pennants turned out so fun!
I can’t wait to see the kids use them on stage for their play!
