Create your own Merry Christmas embroidery hoop art with this FREE cut file!
This is a sponsored post on behalf of Expressions Vinyl. As always, all ideas and opinions are my own.
With Thanksgiving behind us, I am officially getting my CHRISTMAS on! The tree and all of the decor went up over the weekend. And I decided I need some new Christmas art to hang on my walls so I whipped up this fun Merry Christmas embroidery hoop! I am loving the combo of the red and green glitter heat transfer vinyl with the buffalo check fabric. And how about those pom poms??
Don’t miss an opportunity to WIN a gift card to Expressions Vinyl at the end of the post!
I designed this pattern in my Silhouette Cameo software. You can download the FREE SVG cut file here.
When I cut the pattern I separated the images into which ones I wanted to be green and which ones to be red and grouped and separated them for cutting.
I used Red and Grass glitter heat transfer vinyl from Expressions Vinyl for this project.
*Note: Don’t forget to flip the image horizontally when using heat transfer vinyl!
After weeding the vinyl, iron the green HTV onto the fabric. Remove the plastic covering the HTV while it is still warm.
Layer the red HTV on the green and line up the images and iron onto fabric.
The completed image should look like this once all of the vinyl is ironed on.
Prep the embroidery hoop by wrapping the outside piece with a fluffy white yarn. Leave several inches at the end after tying it off.
Insert the fabric in the hoop. The yarn will make the outside hoop too thick to close with the embroidery hoop screw. Instead, use the extra yarn and slip it through the holes for the screw (add a piece of tape to the end of the yarn to give it a pointed end) and pull tight.
Trim excess fabric from the hoop, ~1/2″ all the way around. Hot glue fabric to the back inner hoop.
Add extra decorations to the hoop if desired. I added a bit of red pom pom trim on the back of the hoop and some faux pine branches and berries to the top of the hoop. All were added with hot glue.
Hot glue the end of the yarn to the back of the hoop as well to create a loop for hanging.
I love how festive it turned out! All of the red and green on the buffalo check. I can’t wait to mix it into my other Christmas decor!
See how the glitter HTV catches the light so well? So fun!
